Newsboys are a band that originated in Australia. The genres in which they specialize are Christian pop/rock music. They have released eighteen albums in the United States of America so far, with six of them receiving Gold status for having shipped more 500,000 copies to stores. The band’s line-up has changed many times over the years and currently consists of Michael Tait, Jeff Frankenstein, Duncan Phillips and Jody Davis.

Formed in the town of Mooloolaba in Queensland, Australia, the band’s original line-up consisted of Peter Furler and George Perdikis; they were later joined by John James and Sean Taylor. The original line up traveled to America in 1987 and released their debut album Read All About It in 1988. After that, they went ahead to launch two more albums: Hell Is For Wimps and Boys Will Be Boys, released in 1990 and 1991 respectively. None of their first three albums did much to cement the band as stars.

This changed in 1992 with the release of Not Ashamed. They followed this effort up with what many consider their first real hit record in 1994, titled Going Public. This set the band on something of a hot streak as they released three albums that were consistent successes: Take Me To Your Leader which also received nominations in the year 1996, Step Up To The Microphone after John James quit the band in the year 1998 and Love Liberty Disco in 1999, the only album of the group to feature an alternative disco sound.

Their next effort titled Thrive was released in 2002 and was another success for the group. Consistency had set in for the group, whose next two albums Adoration: The Worship Album and Devotion did well both in sales and reviews. This was also the case with Go, released in 2006 and In The Hands of God, which came out in 2009. Their next album, which was the first to feature current lead singer Michael Tait, was titled Born Again and was yet another success for the group, which had seen several line-up changes over the years but still churned out great records. God’s Not Dead was the group’s next venture, and this hit stores in 2011.

It was a massive success regarding sales. The 2013 effort Restart was also lauded by critics and did well in sales. Hallelujah For The Cross had released only a year later and once again earned excellent reviews. Their latest venture, Love Riot, hit stores in March 2016 and was yet another success.
