The actual name of Junkie is Tom Holkenborg. He is very famous as JXL or Junkie XL Junkie XL is a Dutch composer, DJ, and producer. J >> Read More... . He is a Dutch engineer, producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, etc. Junkie was born in a town called Lichtenvoorde in Netherlands. He learned to play piano at the age of four, drums at the age of eight and guitar at the age of 12 from his mother, who was an accredited music teacher. He took a job of selling keyboards at a local music store. He discovered the electronic musical instrument called sound synthesizer. He later joined the Dutch New Wave ensemble Weekend as a producer and a multi-instrumentalist, who toured extensively even through many parts of Soviet Union with his band during 1988 and 1991. He contributed his best to Sputnik, their last album. He produced the album Almost a Dance. He signed the label named Play It Again Sam in the year 1992 after which, there are two releases in the years 1993 and 1994 namely Cancer of Choice and Blood and Gold. He released his first album named Saturday Teenage Kick in the year 1997. Patrick Tilon, the Dutch musician, was the lyricist and vocalist of most of the songs of the album.

The album, A Little Less Conversation became popular worldwide. This set the stage for the double-disc album named Radio JXL: A Broadcast from the Computer Hell Cabin in the year 2003. He relocated to Los Angeles in the year 2013. Later in the year 2006, he released his album named Today. It was his fourth album which reflected not only the personal changes but also the professional changes in his life. Booming Back at You is his fifth album, which had shown Tom cultivate a club sound stronger than before. The album was released on a joint venture agreement between Electronic Arts and Nettwerk Music, which was named Artwerk Music. Junkie's sixth album was released on 27th November 2012, which was entitled Synthesized.

This album is known to have collaborations with, Curt Smith, Isis Salam and Tommie Sunshine. He contributed some additional music in collaboration with the British music producer, Harry Gregson-Williams to the film named Domino in the year 2005. He received an award named Grand Prix award for Best Original Music Score in the year 2008 at the Aubagne International Film Festival. He collaborated with the composer named Hans Zimmer, who was an Oscar winner. He composed music for the film named Divergent in the year 2014 along with Hans Zimmer who was credited for the soundtrack as Executive Producer. He is a member of the collaborative group of six musicians named Magnificent Six. He was the composer of the film named Mad Max: Fury Road in the year 2015, and the film named Deadpool in the year 2016. He was also a co-composer for the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice film. Tom Holkenborg worked for some remixes, the highlights of which include Depeche Mode, Justin Timberlake, Bloc Party, Coldplay, etc. The remix for Outrageous by Britney Spears was used in the film named Catwoman in the year 2004.
