Dilip Ghosh

Dilip Ghosh born on August 1, 1964, in Kulliana village in West Bengal, is an Indian politician currently working as the President of the West Bengal unit of Bhartiya Janata Party. Born in Medinipur district in a poor farmer family, he did his schooling from village schools and then went to Jhargram or higher studies. He joined RSS as a way to serve the country despite being offered good jobs post education. He has been a part of the RSS, works as the in-charge of RSS as a ‘Pracharak’ and also worked as an assistant to former RSS chief KS Sudarshan. After working as a state general secretary, he was appointed as the new BJP Chief of Bengal in late 2015, when he replaced Rahul Sinha, who had completed his term.

This was done so as to change the leadership to gain the support that BJP had achieved during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Since then, he has worked towards strengthening the party and prepare for the Assembly Elections. On the growing Anti-National slogan matter building up in the nation, Ghosh said on March 4, 2016, that anyone in Bengal who raises anti-national slogans or slogans in support of Pakistan will be beheaded. This was condemned by many politicians condemning the use of violence to fulfil the political agendas. Ghosh will compete against Trinamool Congress leader Ram Prasad Tiwari and 91-year-old Congress MLA Gyan Singh Sohan Lal, the eldest candidate in Bengal.
