Gale Anne Hurd is an American movie and television producer. She was born on 25 October 1955 in Los Angeles, California, United States of America. She is the daughter of Frank E. Hurd, an investor, and Lolita (née Espiau). She has Jewish-Catholic parentage. Her father was a Jewish and her mother, Roman Catholic. She got raised by them in Palm Springs, California, United States of America. She completed her graduation with a BA in economics and communications from Stanford University. In 1977, she was also a minor in political science. She worked as an executive assistant of Roger Corman, president of New World Pictures Company.

She worked at various positions in the film industry. She was at many administrative positions and soon became a part of production division. In 1982, she founded her production company named Pacific Western Productions. Her company produced various box-office hit films such as Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989) and The Terminator (1984). In 2011, she went on to become the administrator of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In 2012, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she won a star.
