She is the granddaughter of the American businessman and a member of the Pritzker family named Abram Nicholas Pritzker. Her father is Jay Arthur Pritzker, a successful American conglomerate organizer, entrepreneur, and a member of the Pritzker family. She was born to Jews. She was born in the third most populous city in the United States of America, named Chicago, in the state of Illinois.

Her mother is Marian Cindy. Hugo Friend, an American jurist, the best-remembered judge, is her maternal grandfather. Her father has put several efforts to diversify the family business, an industrial United States Holding Company in Chicago, founded by Robert Pritzker and Jay Pritzker. He built its portfolio as a composition of about more than sixty diversified corporations. They were also the creators of the 1957 Hyatt Hotel chain, and also were the owners of Braniff Airlines, a domestic air carrier from 1983 to 1988.
