Jason Blumenthal was born and brought up in Los Angeles. He graduated from Crossroads School for Arts. To pursue his career in film industry, he went to Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communication. He is best known for his part in Escape Artists Productions.

Jason Blumenthal has never thought of coming on screen. He wanted to work back of the screen. He did not directly enter into the full-fledged production. After his graduation, he joined Wizan/Black films where he used to work for the development and production of movie like ‘Iron Eagle II’, ‘Split Decisions’, ‘Short Time’ and ‘Class Art’. As an executive producer, he produced ‘Fire in the Sky’, ‘A Family Thing’, etc. At Mandalay Entertainment, a part of Sony Pictures Entertainment, he worked as the Senior Vice President of feature production untill March 1998. During this period, he worked for some movies from Mandalay Entertainment like ‘The Fan’, ‘Seven Years In Tibet’, etc. Most of the films he produced from this production house managed to get positive reviews from the audience as well as critics. He also looked into the movies like ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and its sequel ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’. These two movies too brought great recognition to the production house. Jason Blumenthal and his partner Todd Black established the Black and Blu Production in 1998 and in a very short span of time; they merged the production house with Steve Tisch Company. Jason Blumenthal has started his full time and full-fledged mainstream production once they joined the both companies. Altogether, they became famous as the Escape Artists. From the Escape Artists Inc., they produced movies like ‘A Knights Tale, Back-up Plan’, ‘The Talking of Pelham 1 2 3’, etc. He is famous for his outstanding movies like ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ (2006), ‘Seven Pounds’ (2008), and ‘The Equilizer (film)’ (2014). He wrote for the movie ‘Bio-Dome’.
