Joe Dishner is an America based Producer, Line Producer, and Unit Production Manager. He has been working in these roles for the past 30 years. He has contributed to TV series, documentaries, movies and even a few TV commercials. He got his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Texas, Austin. He started working in the 80s as a Location Manager in movies like “Not for Publication” and “Trip to Bountiful”. He produced “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2003), and the CBS series “The Ghost Whisperer”. As a Unit Production Manager (UPM), he worked for quite a few projects.

Some of them are “The Big Green (1995)”, “The Evening Star (1996)”, “Roadtrip (2000)”, “The Mothman Prophecies (2002),” and “The Day After Tomorrow (2004) ”. “The Fort Worth Watergarden” and “Gimble’s Swing,” produced by PBS, also saw him work as a UPM. He was also involved in the TNT TV Series-Dallas (25 episodes), and the Fox TV Series-The Good Guys (20 episodes). In an interview, describing his typical day, Joe mentioned how he worked with his colleagues to make sure it was a successful day of shooting. After checking with the Assistant Director (AD), he would give timely updates to the Producer about how the shoot is going. He even made sure that the AD is not facing any troubles.

On completing his work on the set, he used to go back to his office, where the accountant would be waiting for his signatures. Apart from his daily routine, he also talked about Michael Barker, Ed Lowry, Louis Black, Ken Harrison, and Den Bishop, who all had impact on his early career. He also mentioned about his second feature as a Location Manager, “The Trip to Bountiful”, being crucial to him. The producer of the film Horton Foote was his long term friend. Joe is a pioneer member of the “The Austin Chronicle”. He was also one of its founding co-publishers. He is currently a member of the project committee for the Filmanthropy Fund of the Dallas Foundation for Texas State.

The Director’s Guild of America and Sam’s Club also have the honor of having him as a loyal member. He is currently working for the consulting group “Production for Use”. It is a consultation agency for independent productions. They offer expert advice on various areas of production like script development, project analysis, crowd funding, audience building, and distribution strategies. His team members include Annie Bush, Louis Black, and Ashland Viscosi.
