Lawrence Kasdan is a name behind the famous film series ‘ Star Wars Star Wars is a show of Mastiii, India’s most popul >> Read More... .’ He was born on 14 January 1949, in Miami, Florida, to parents, Sylvia Sarah and Clarence Norman Kasdan, with professions of counselling and managing electronics stores, respectively; he also has a brother named Mark Kasdan, who is a writer and producer by profession. Lawrence Kasdan was brought up in a Jewish family in Morgantown, West Virginia. He did graduation from Morgantown High School in 1966. After that, he did his further education from the University of Michigan. He won the prestigious "Hopwood Prize" for writing from the University of Michigan's Hopwood Program.

He wanted to opt for teaching as a profession, but he failed. Then he decided to work as an advertising copywriter. From here, he tried to put Hollywood in his screenplays. He faced rejections for 67 times and then finally came into the limelight in the mid-1970s with his script for ‘The Bodyguard.’ In the journey of success, he was approached by Star Wars' Creator Lucas and hired as a screenplay writer to complete the screenplay for star wars sequel ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and later for ‘Return of the Jedi.’ He also contributed further in the sequel trilogy, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’

He made his directing debut with ‘Body Heat.’ Now, he is known as a famous American screenwriter, director, and a producer. His genre includes western, romantic comedies and overwhelming dramas. He has now a lengthy list of films including Raider of the Lost Ark, I Love You to the Death, Grand Canyon, French Kiss, As Good as it Gets and many more.

On the platform of filmmaking and screenplay, he has won many awards such as Austin Film Festival’s Distinguished Screenwriter Award (2001), adding to that are prestigious awards like the Laurel Award and ICON Award for his achievements and contributions (2016).

He has also been nominated for Oscars three times, once for ‘The Accidental Tourist’ and twice for ‘The Big Chill’ in the category of the best screenplay. Out of his professional life, he is a fan of the films of Akira Kurosawa, which we can see in his early scripts. He is a talented person. He has experience from screenplay to film direction.
