Michael Emerson is an American actor. He was born on 7th September 1954 in Iowa. Michael is the son of Carol née Hansen and Ronald H. Emerson. He attended high school at the South Tama County High School in Iowa. He studied theatre and art from the Drake University in Iowa.

He went to the University of Alabama for an MFA degree. He worked as a freelance illustrator for a short period before landing a few roles at local productions at the Theater Jacksonville, Florida in 1986. He met actress Carrie Pretson while acting in the stage play Hamlet in Alabama, whom he married on 5th September 1998. They starred together in the 2004 comedy flick Straight-Jacket and 2008 comedy movie Ready? Okay, and television series like Lost and Person Of Interest.

Michael came to the spotlight for his role as the psychopath murderer William Hinks in multiple episodes of the series The Practice between 2000 and 2001. He won a Primetime Emmy Award under the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series category in 2001 for The Practice. Michael played the roles of Benjamin Ben Linus and Henry Gale in the survival television series Lost from 2006 till 2010. He played Ben Linus in the mini-series Lost: Missing Pieces and the television movie Lost: Epilogue – The New Man In Charge. He narrated as Ben Linus in television films Lost: Final Chapter, Lost: A Journey In Time and Lost: Past, Present And Future. He voiced Ben Linus in the video game Lost Via Domus.

He won a Golden Derby TV Award – Drama Supporting Actor in 2007, Golden Derby TV Award– Ensemble of the Year in 2008, Saturn Award – Best Supporting Actor in 2008 and Primetime Emmy Award under the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category in 2009. Michael played a major role as Harold Finch in the action crime series Person Of Interest from 2011 to 2016 on the CBS channel.

He also acted in movies like Saw 2004, 29th And Gay 2004, The Legend Of Zorro 2005, Jumping Off Bridges 2006 and others.
