He was born on 13th April 1935 in Kansas City in U.S. and is the son of Myron and Marie Waggoner.

He spent his childhood days in Excelsior Springs situated in Missouri. Afterward, in 1954, he completed his schooling at Kirkwood High School located in Missouri and later received his graduation from St. Louis-affiliated from Washington University. Before starting his career in acting and modeling, he did work in the United States Army and act as a radio operator in West Germany for about two years.

Mr. Lyle Waggoner later studied Mechanical Engineering at the General Motors Institute of Technology. After that, he used to sell encyclopedias by going door-to-door. His debut acting started when he appeared as a muscle man with the production company of the Kansas City of Li'l Abner, and afterward, his sales promotion organization hit a kick start and was a success which leads him to make enough money so he could go to Los Angeles and start his acting career. Mr. Waggoner got married in the year 1961 with Sharon Kennedy who is an actress, realtor, and financial consultant. They together had two sons named Jason and younger one- Beau. He is currently residing in Wyoming where he started his career as a sculptor, and his complete astounding work could get appreciation at the Galleries West Fine Art situated in Jackson Hole in Wyoming.

From 1960 onwards he started appearing on TV shows and in films. He firstly appeared on an episode of Gunsmoke and later was a finalist for TV series version of Batman but in the end the role was given to the actor Adam West. In 1967 he got a role on Catalin Caper and then also received a guest appearance in the Deadliest of the Species season 3. He also received a limited role on the Carol Burnett Show in which he appeared as a performer and announcer. He left the show in the year 1974 in the hope to work as a lead actor shortly. Mr. Waggoner was appointed as a Mayor of Encino situated in California. A year after leaving the show Mr. Lyle got a role of Steve Trevor in the series of Wonder Woman.
