Mathieu Amalric

Mathieu Amalric is a well-known film actor and director from France best known for his role in ‘Quantum of Solace,' one of the movies in the Bond series. He was born on the 25th of October in the year 1965 in the city of Neuilly-sur-Seine in Paris in France. He was born to Jacques Amalric, a journalist, and a foreign affairs editor of Le Monde and Liberation, and Nicole Zand, originally from Poland, also a journalist and a literary critic for Le Monde. After completing his education, Mathieu made appearances in many plays. 

In the year 1996, filmmaker Arnold Desplechin cast Mathieu Amalric in the lead role of ‘Paul Dedalus’ in his French drama film translated into English as ‘My Sex Life... or How I Got into an Argument’. He was cast alongside actors like Emmanuelle Devos, Mariel Denicourt, Jeanne Balibar, etc. It was nominated at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996. Mathieu Amalric won the award for Most Promising Actor at the Cesar Awards.

In the year 2010, Mathieu took on the role of director as he directed the French comedy film, ‘Tournee’ translated into English as ‘On Tour.' Mathieu essayed the role of ‘Joachim Zand’ alongside other actors like Miranda Colclasure, Suzanne Ramsey, and Linda Maracini. The film was selected to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010, and also won the main film critics’ award, the FIPRESCI Award. Amalric also won the award for Best Director.
