Habib Faisal is an Indian screenwriter and director.
He is known for his various works as a scriptwriter and a director. He is associated with the Indian film industry for the past 24 years and in between he also took a break for ten years. He’s known for his amazing dialogues for various movies.
He is a Kirori Mal College, Delhi University graduate. It was here at Kirori Mal College where his interest in dramatics took wings; He joined the college’s dramatics society. He has often said in his interviews that he never wanted to act in films; instead, he aspired to be a theatre artist.
Later he went to study cinema at South Illinois University. Before joining the industry, he worked for five long years for the famous news channel NDTV as a cameraman.
After that he moved to Mumbai and started directing TV serials like Kareena-Kareena, Lavanya, etc. Following the TV serials, he began writing scripts for various movies like
Band Baaja Baaraat,
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Ta Ra Rum Pum.
At the age of 44, after writing
Do Dooni Chaar, he realized that he should get into movie direction.
Faisal is now a well-established director who has worked with names like
Ranveer Singh, Shahrukh Khan, etc.
He has an endless list of movies under his belt and many of them have proven to be a super hit. Habib has donned many hats- He worked as a writer for films like Fan, Bewakoofiyaan; He wrote dialogues for Band Baaja Baaraat, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl; He is the director of Ishaqzaade, Daawat-e-Ishq.
Habib has received a number of awards for his work. To name a few, he was the recipient of the 56th Filmfare Award (category: best dialogue) for the film Band Baaja Baaraat(2010) , National Film Award (category: best Hindi feature film) for Do Dooni Chaar(2010) , Screen Awards (category: Best Dialogues) for Band Baaja Baaraat(2010).
