Michael Brandt is an American writer-turned-producer. Brandt was born on 1 October 1968. After his schooling, Brandt took admission at Baylor University, Waco (Texas County) and received a BBA degree. Brandt went on to graduate with MA in Communication Studies, with film as his major focus, at the same institution. During his post-graduation stint, he had prepared a thesis on digital nonlinear editing. At Baylor, Brandt became acquainted with collaborator Derek Haas.

Later, in the late 1990s, they went on to collaborate on several projects mainly screenplays long distance as Haas lived and worked in Atlanta. Initially, the duo did not stay together as Haas gave ideas while staying in Atlanta. Haas and Brandt worked together on the script of “The Courier”, which was their first script together. Finally, Brandt and Haas got an opportunity when the production house of “2 Fast 2 Furious”, zeroed in on the pair for the screenplay of the movie.
