An accomplished dramatist and poet from Gujarat, Raghunath Brahmabhatt was born in Gujarat, India, in 1892. The moniker "Rasakavi" or "Poet of Rasa" was given to him. He got down with his career by writing erotic poems that made him very popular among the Gujrati audience. His plays mainly revolve around mythological and historical subjects, like Buddhadev (The God Buddha), Ajatsatru, Saraswatichandra, etc. When Shakespearean dramaturgy ruled the Gujarati stage, Brahmbhatt followed Sanskrit dramaturgy. His plays were well-liked by the public. As a writer of old professional theatre, he was accepted into the literary circle of significant playwrights.

In his autobiography, named Samaran Manjari (Benevolent Kingdom), he traces the Gujarati theatres for three decades, starting in 1910. He was a great writer who could write Gujarati literature so effectively. He had a passion for knowledge, constant contemplation, and study. Ironically, his restlessness offered rest to his readers. Raghunath Brahmbhatt passed away in 1983, leaving his unforgettable poems behind.
