Manick Sorcar

Manick Sorcar was born in the United States. He has completed his studies from Indian Institute Of Technology, University of Washington and BHU. He is a very popular Artist, Laserist engineer, and animator as well. His wife’s name is Shikha Devi.

He has two children named Piya Sorcar and Payal Sorcar. His mother’s name is Basanti Devi and father’s name is P.C. Sorcar. He won many awards for his work as an artist in many streams like animation, cartoons, fine arts, laser arts.

He has also done touring world stage-shows with laser animation which includes live action as well. All the animation films that he has done are all children stories of India. He has served the industry for 22 years. Therefore, he won many awards for Public Broadcasting services.

He did the film A fairy tale from India in the nineties, this was the first film by him which was a mix and match of Animation and Live action. A fairy tale from India also won the Golden Plaque in the year 1990 at Chicago International Film Festival.

He received the Art Plaque for Excellence in New Jersey for his shows India Forever and Dancing with my Soul from the National Federation Of Indian American Association.

He has done the laser documentary named Our Republic’s Birth and it consists of the Indian History. He is the Producer of the laser documentary named Swami Vivekananda which received a lot of appreciation. Sorcar is the first American-Indian who got ILDA Artistic award by the International Laser Display Association.

He also won first place in the International Laser Display Association contest in the year 2005. He also won award for his laser art reflection in the year 2008. He has also written many texts related to lightning as he is from the field of Electrical Engineering.

He has completed M.S in the stream of Electrical Engineering from the University Of Washington and he did B.S in the stream of Electrical Engineering from the popular Banaras Hindu University. Sorcar has written many books and research papers as well and all his writings contain the subject art and animation.

He has received a lot of honors like the Bharat Samman Achievers Award and the Jadavpur University started a Laser Animation Laboratory in the name of Manick Sorcar. At the Laser Animation Laboratory, the first laser animation course was started. Sorcar donated US$100.000 to the Laser Animation Laboratory. Sorcar has achieved a lot and people have learned a lot from him.
