Jai Kumar Nair

The young and talented Jai Kumar Nair is a performer who began his career succeeding in reality dance shows. Born to a stay-at-home mother and a retired electrical contractor, Jai is part of a small family with an elder sister and brother. He had always been a lover of the art, dancing from a tender age, even before he turned 10 years old, realizing his passion for it. In spite of having a simple life and family, it did not hinder him from chasing his dreams. He has been trained in jazz and his favorite styles are contemporary and hip-hop. However, Jai is good in many varieties, having also performed afro jazz, Bollywood, salsa and rock. In 2007, with his hard work and passion he became the Boogie Woogie Mahayudh Solo champion. The rest was history.

On participating in Dance India Dance (season 1), one of the most popular dance reality shows on Indian television, he placed 3rd. More recently, he sat in the judge’s seat in Assam for a reality show called ‘Superdancer’ which was shown on Jonack TV. Jai has recently spread out his wings in opening a dance institute in Andheri West, Mumbai; the Jai Kumar Dance Institute provides free training in myriad styles such as Bollywood, contemporary, Latin ballroom, jazz and hip-hop for people of all ages, be it children or adults. Jai is also a charity worker, visiting the Indian Cancer Society patients to teach them annually along with his team.
