Sandeep Sejwal, from a formidable athlete to a brilliant dancer. This individual has never ceased to amaze us. Born on 23rd January 1989, he spent all his childhood in New Delhi. He finished schooling from Bloom Public School, New Delhi.

He did his under graduation fromSt. Stephen’s College, New Delhi, but had to leave in between his course to follow his passion. He loved swimming and wanted to build his career on it. He began training under the pre-eminent Indian swimming coach, winner of the Dronacharya Award 2015, Mr. Nihar Ameen at K.C.Reddy swimming center, Bangalore, Karnataka.

He was supported by GoSports Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims at promoting sports across the country. Under his guidance, Sandeep drastically improved and rose to fame. In the year 2007, he bagged the silver medals at Asian Indoor Games in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Soon he became the first Indian breaststroke swimmer to have qualified for the Olympics. In 2010 he participated in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events at the Asian Juniors event in Beijing.

But unfortunately, he did reach the finals of either of the events. Then came another peak in his career in 2012 when he qualified for the London Olympics and clocked an astonishing time of 1:02.92s at the 14th FINA world championships in Shanghai.

The same year he was presented the Arjuna Award for swimming. In 2014 he bagged the bronze medal for India in the 50m breaststroke event. In the year 2016, he entered the 59th Malaysian open Swimming Championships, where he won 3 gold medals.

This man is a senior National Champion and is also the current National record holder in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events. Another less known fact about his career is that he was the chief office superintendent in the Indian railways since 2010.

On being number one in his category for over 13 years, he decided to take things slow and settle down with his family and do something else to help aspiring kids grow. Immediately after returning victorious from the Asian games, he decided he would start coaching.

He took over as coach for the Dolphin Aquatic’s program at the Otter’s Club, Mumbai. He displayed great success here too. Of the 22 he trained along with his other colleagues, 10 entered the national level competitions, and 5 of them returned with medals.

They got happily married in the year 2017, and they lead a merry family. This couple went on to grab public attention when they entered the dance tv reality show, Nach Baliye 9, as a wild card entry.

They were an energetic couple and managed to set the stage on fire. However, this dance journey of theirs had to come to an end when Pooja Banerjee met with an accident. It was an unfortunate turn of events during a practice session. She hurt her legs, left elbow, and shoulder due to which this couple had to opt-out of the competition.
