Punyakar Upadhyay is an Indian dancer, participated in various reality shows. He took part in Vine star ki khoj and was among the top twenty contestants. The dancer was also a participant in Chak Dhoom Dhoom and was in top twelve contestants. He won the ‘Monacha tura’ award of the Dance reality programme Dance Maharashtra Dance in the year 2013 which gave him confidence to follow his passion. He was in the top eighteen contestants and master Devendra trained him. But the real fame came with Dance India Dance, season six in the year 2017. Paran Devo, Alphans Chetty,
Nainika Anasuru, and
Piyush Gurbhele were some of the other contestants.
The show got mentored by Mudassar khan, Marzi Pestorji, and Mini Pradhan. He got trained by Marzi Pestorzi and was in his team called “Marzi Ke Mastaane.” Amruta Khanvikar and
Sahil Khattar were the hosts for the show. Mithoon Chakraborty was the master judge. Punyakar performed his dance skills at prestigious places such as IMFFA (International Marathi Film Festival Awards) in front of prodigies from the dance and entertainment industry. He did an event with Sangli events in 2014. He was part of COEP dance workshop in 2016. He also took part in the Marathi Sahitya Academy event. He is a versatile dancer who has got a stronghold on contemporary dance style.
He performed at the Pune festival in the year 2014 for Colors Marathi Channel. He gave a brilliant performance and became everyone’s favorite in the blink of an eye. With dancing, Punyekar has inclined towards acting also. To provide some base to this inclination, he worked in the music video called ‘Princess’ by T-series in 2018 and acted and danced in it too. He also debuted in the film ‘Memory Card’ by adlibs production. With the same production house, he made ‘The Bappa song’ in the year 2017. With films, Music videos and reality shows, he also choreographed dance performances and took workshops.
One such workshops was with ‘The Grand Dance Workshop’ by Nirmal Dance Studio in 2017. He took dance workshop in the College of Engineering in Pune which was called Let’s Dance. In Pune only, he took another workshop named ‘Danza’ where he and his students explored the different facades of western dance. He was also part of the Moon Walker Dance Academy in 2016 where he trained the students in a contemporary style and choreographed few songs to understand the medium well.
