Abhinay Deo is an Indian commercial director who later turned into a feature film director. He had no aspirations of become a star, all he wanted to do was present stories to the public. Deo says that his goal was never glamour, acting or even films. He considers himself to be a lucid storyteller.
Abhinay is the son of actors Ramesh and
Seema Deo, and bears a close resemblance to his father, regarding appearance. He is the younger brother of
Ajinkya Deo, a well-known actor in Marathi films. Abhinay has studied architecture and practised it for a year as well.
Abhinay’s debut movie was “
Game”, which released in 2011. On July 1, 2011, he did his second directorial venture, “
Delhi Belly”, in collaboration with
Akshat Verma. Deo received the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director for this film. Although the flick got an ‘A’ certificate for the usage of an enormous amount of slangs and expletives, it managed to entertain the audience immensely. Abhinay has done over 400 ad films working with O & M, as well as independently. He also admits that making these ad films polishes his skills as a feature film director. He directed a TV series, “24”, which was based on the American series of the same name. It aired from 4 October, 2013 to 21 December, 2013.
Abhinay says that he, and writer Akshat Verma, few years down the line, hope to team up for a sequel to their hit film, “Delhi Belly”. In a recent interview on a Marathi channel, he announced his new project for an Indian TV channel and confirmed to cast Ajinkya in it. He is excited about the release of his 2016 upcoming action thriller film, “
Force 2”, under the Film City banner. It’s a spin-off from the 2011 super hit movie, “Force”.
