It is rare to see a woman among the long list of male directors who have graced us with their movies on the big screens. Ashima Chibber is one such talented director. Being a director was not her choice, but it was destiny that made it possible. She has worked with renowned directors and actors and has been successful in fulfilling her dreams. Born and brought up in Hyderabad she decided to move to Mumbai to pursue her dreams. She got her education in Delhi and UK and set out as a director with the guidance of Shimit Amin, who is also a director. Her first film was released in Chandigarh, Punjab.. Fortunately, her debut film and her serial were a super hit and she made her presence known to many renowned people of that industry.

She has directed television series like 'Ladies Room' in 2016, 'MTV Fannah: An Impossible Love Story' in 2015, 'Kaise Yeh Yaariyan' in 2015, 'MTV: Webbad' in 2014, and 'Mere Dad Ke Maruti' in 2013. She has earned herself five credits working as an assistant director on the sets of 'Ab Tak Chhappan' in 2004, 'Pyaarke Side effects' (as a Chief assistant director), 'Chak de India' in 2007, ' Kites' in 2010, and ' Rockstar' in 2011. 'Chak de India' was her most well known film and put her name in the history books. In the first movie she directed which was ‘Mere Dad Ke Maruti’, she made an impact in the industry for Y-Films, the production company.

She was also nominated in the list of Best Debuting Director for the movie, ‘Mere Dad Ke Maruti’. The script of 'Ladies Room' is based on the reason behind a woman's need to know things the large amount of time she spends in the washroom criticising features. Also, she is honoured to work with the Yash Raj film productions. She is indeed a talented director who is destined for greatness. She was also nominated for the Guild award for her debut and the Zee Cine Award for the Most Promising Director.
