Iqbal Durrani is one of the most renowned film directors in India. He is known for his immense contribution to the Bollywood industry. Durrani played a significant part in defining the world of Bollywood from the late 80s’ to the early 00s’. His journey in cinema began as a writer for the 1984 movie, ‘Pyasa Shaitaan.’ His skills as a dialogue and screenplay writer were employed in several movies. He has also made a lot of impact on the world of literature with his many novels, the most prominent of which is ‘Gandhi Se Pehle Gandhi.’ Durrani was also the first person in history to translate the ancient work, ‘Sama Veda,’ into both Hindi and Urdu. He is also distinguished in the field of philosophy and theology, called on to speak by various devout groups of different religions.

His work as a social activist also bears a lot of weight. He has held positions as the chairperson of the Human Rights Association in Jharkhand, in the Peace Committee, and the Eyes Trust of Mumbai. His many contributions have won him the Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award in 2010, Babasaheb Ambedkar Award in 2011, and the Jharkhand Ratna Award in 2008. He was also honored with the Vidya Vachaspati degree by the Sahitya Kala Sangam. Durrani also ran for the Lok Sabha elections in 2009. His work has been monumental in transcending all boundaries.
