Smita Bharti is an Indian-Director. Apart from being a theatre director, she is also a social activist and writer. She was born on 02nd August 1964. She is born and brought up in Bhilai, Chattisgarh, India. The name of her father is Agya Ram Kshetrapal. The name of her mother is Nirmal. She has completed her schooling from the Aukland School Shimla in the year 1982. She completed her graduation from Delhi University, in the subject Bachelors of Literature, and Psychology in the year 1985. Later in the year 1987, she headed towards Tamil Nadu for completing her master's degree from Annamalai University. She has completed more than 20 years of being with communities spanning social, class, and age strata.

She primarily works for helpless women and also adolescents. In her 20 years tenure, she has performed several workshops, research, training, performances, campaigns, and publications. She works to change the thought and the process of society. She also works for women who are the victim of Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, and physical and mental torture. She is the consultant at Sanskriti Museum, and The Asian Heritage Foundation. In the year 2005, she started working on exploring contemporary lifestyle and personal relationship at the Hungry Heart Festival which is founded by her.

One of the plays named Jug Jug Jiyo which she directed in the year 2013, went to the national award. She founded Sakshi NGO in the year 1992 which prominently focuses on violence against women and children.

She has won the Laadli National Media Award for one of her plays in the year 2013. In the year 2016, she has won another award, Karmaveer Puraskaar, which was given for the social change and the Woman of the Elements Chakra. Due to her immense hard work, she was appointed as a member of the Central Advisory Committee of the Government of India, in the year 2013. Moreover, she is also a part of Rotary Peace Fellow of the KK Birla Foundations, and Special Fellow at WISCOMP.
