Born on November 30, 1978, in Pali Hill, Mumbai, the home place to the top actors/actress of the Indian Film Industry, was born, Vishal S. Mahadkar. With time films influence him and eventually become an integral part of his life. This shows that he was brought up in a place where all the hotshots lived. Vishal was first enrolled in Mumbai Scotish School, MAhim, Mumbai, but was later moved to Oxford , England at the behest of his grandfather, Late Col. Dattatraya Mahadkar , who wanted Vishal to study at Elite Dragon School, which used to prepare the future global leader, from all scopes of life, where his own idol Lord Mountbatten had studied.

Since he never was at home, he spent his formative years away, overseas, he was sent to Chhatrapati Shahu Vidyalaya which is in the Kolhapur Palace zone for one year to learn and study the rich heritage to which he belonged to, under the personal guidance and watchful eyes of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, the current heir to the throne of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Vishal got to know about true Indian Culture, arts, and crafts and literally lived through history after living here.

After a couple of years, Vishal went to study in Mithibai College, Mumbai and then to Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, where did Business Administration. He returned back to India in the year 1999 after completing his studies in Australia, he started his own Information Technology business under his father’s support. He founded “Mahadkar InfoTech” on the franchise of Arena Multimedia, which later took on websites and other multimedia projects.

He enjoyed the creative side of the business and personally spearheaded all the projects executed by the company. Under this, Vishal was exposed to technologies like CGI, VFX, and editing that are part of filmmaking. Vishal’s keenness towards films, made him interested in filmmaking was gradually evolving. “Destiny takes its own course”. However, with the IT meltdown starting in 2001, his business had already started taking on the water. He was so deliberate about his passion that that, regardless of the risk of delving into a completely alien career, he planned to give up a face to his passion and wound up his his other works in the year 2003.

Vishal gave it a lot of thought and finally decided to take up the risky operation of foraying into a completely new career. He, then, joined as a Junior Assistant Director in Mohit Suri’s direction team on Kalyug (2005) while spending time with a member of the team, kunal deshmuh, in order to learn the craft.
