Dj Arlene

Arlene Maria Gomez, now famously known as DJ Arlene, was born in Bangalore. Like every other DJ, she showed her interest towards music from the start. She went to Baldwin Girls High School Bangalore for her early education, after which she decided to go towards the commerce stream. For this, she went to Christ Pre-University, Bangalore, where she also learned French. Her early education was followed by her degree in commerce at Christ University, Bangalore.

Apart from her education, she learned how to DJ from her boyfriend, Gladwin, since there were no such places to go to learn how to DJ at that time. This was not just the city, but all over the country, especially when it came to girls. Learning and practicing with Gladwin on CD players, she realized her passion for DJing and her taste for music also improved. She then was able to play on turntables. She first started off by attending a few events with Gladwin, and slowly started to DJ with him.

She didn't take long to be noticed. At an event held in Sparks, she was DJing with Gladwin, where she was noticed. After this event, it wasn't long when she started getting booked for events, and she became the very first female DJ of Bangalore.

She has, till date, performed in so many places, not just in India, but other countries as well, like Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Thailand and also Nepal. It didn't come easy for her. Being the first women DJ emerging from Bangalore she faced various criticism all over. She mentioned in an interview about the danger and difficulties she faces in her career path in the industry. She also spoke about how it affected her. It also made her stronger to prove them wrong. She shared an incident where people have tried to take advantage of her being a woman.

She has now married her long time boyfriend, Gladwin, and is running a successful DJing career with thousands of followers all over the country. She also tried her luck by opening her own boutique named after herself, where she sold high fashion accessories and clothes. This boutique soon ended after a year. Simultaneously, she kept working at the commerce industry in various multinational companies like Thomson Reuters.

She is well recognized for many of her tracks in genres like deep house, uplifting trans, minimal, etc. She is very dedicated to this career path and sometimes indulges in singing. She has achieved a lot in a very young age, overcoming all the discrimination.
