Sucheta Pal

Sucheta Pal is an entrepreneur and India’s first Zumba Education Specialist who had the privilege of getting felicitated by the President of India as First Lady for Women Wellness in 2018. Sucheta Pal was born on October 13 in the town of Ranchi in Jharkhand. She finished her schooling in Loreto Convent School, Doranda, Ranchi. She has always found peace in dancing ever since her childhood. But, like every Indian teenager, Sucheta Pal opted for engineering after school. She joined Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, and pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Graduating in 2004, she got a job in one of the largest IT firms. After her training in Chennai, Sucheta Pal moved to Mumbai city and began her career as a business analyst. Like everyone, she too had a dream of owning a three BHK sea-facing apartment and traveling the world, and she felt the job was a perfect choice. But soon, Sucheta Pal took sleeping pills and suffering anxiety. Upon the doctor’s consultation, she understood she has a social anxiety disorder which made it difficult for her to even stand a person in an elevator. So, with the support of her parents and sister, Sucheta Pal quit her well-paid job in 2005. Stepping down from a job that fed her well was difficult, but she decided to pursue her true happiness.

In 2005, Sucheta Pal decided to take up dancing, which she genuinely loved professionally, and joined a dance school. Also, she had to take multiple part-time jobs side by side and lived on vada pavs. Sucheta Pal married the love of her life, Vivek, and moved to Connecticut, the USA, in 2009. In the USA, she started taking Zumba classes and loved it. Engrossed in Zumba, Sucheta Pal learned every possible style in Zumba and gained the instructor license in 2010. She then received the chance to become India’s Zumba Education Specialist in 2012. She returned to India and took Zumba to another level in India. In 2018, Sucheta Pal received the First Lady Award from the President of India for Women Wellness.

She has also won the Women Super Achiever Award at the Femina India 4th World Women Leadership Congress 2017.
