Pria Kataaria Puri is a world famous fashion designer. Born on February 23, 1974, Pria is a fashion icon. She hails from the serene valleys of Kashmir through her maternal side. She is one of the top fashion stars of the country and is known for her wild streak style personality. She has garnered formal training from a polytechnic institute in New Delhi, thus making her first step into the realm of fashion. She then went to San Francisco to imbibe more from the world of fashion, where she earned another formal training, from FIDM, San Francisco. It was here where she showcased her first collection of Occidental Evening wear at the San Francisco Fashion Centre.
Pria finds herself completely dedicated towards ‘Occidental Couture,' which is a mystique blend of western and oriental ideas to adorn the ever so fascinating female form. ‘Colour and Embroidery’ is her area of specialization and hence plays a significant role in most of her collections. When visualizing Pria’s work, one is bound to get awed by her fabulous amalgam of Indian and western culture. Draped with mirror works, shells, beads, embroidery, her designs are a perfect blend of modern form with Indian expressions.
Awarded with Bharat Yuva Ratna Award and the Bharat Vikas Award, she keeps the spirit of India alive through her work.
Pria lives in Kuwait with her spouse, entrepreneur Sumit Puri. They are blessed with two kids Reaa and Nosher, who are in their teens. The Delhi-bred couple moved to Kuwait around twelve years ago when Sumit had to go there for work. A family woman, Pria manages both the spheres, business and family, of her life, perfectly well. She also has a keen interest in horse riding, cooking, Indian classical music, Bharat Natyam, palmistry, roller blading and sketching.
Her favorite shopping destination is Kuwait, and Chanel is her favorite brand. She also likes Zara when shopping for casual clothing.
