Suneet Varma is one of the leading Indian Fashion Designers at present. He was born in 1964. Suneet’s Father was a successful textile consultant. Suneet grew up in New Delhi. He has a brother named Vineet Varma and a sister named Geetika Varma. At a very young age Suneet went to London to study sculpting and painting. He later graduated in Fashion from London College of Fashion, majoring in Costume History. Suneet started his career with mere five thousand rupees in his pocket and one sewing machine. Suneet Varma is a fashion designer in India who has an association with huge brands such as BMW, Armani Junior, Swarovski, Judith Leiber and Azva by World Gold Council. Brought up in New Delhi, he pursued his higher education in London, first in sculpting and then in costume history. He has two siblings: Geetika Varma, his sister, and Vineet Varma, his brother. 

Suneet’s career began in the year 1986 in Paris where he interned with Yves Saint Laurent. After that, he worked in Ahmedabad, on a denim project, with the Lalbhai group. He had his first fashion show in the year 1991 and since then has used unique ideas in all his creations. The collection of 2010 had Antonio's Tales from the Thousand & One Nights as its central inspiration and was called "The Pirates of Couture", His July 2011 show had Kamasutra as its central theme. 2014’s shows gained inspiration from The Flapper Girl and The Princess of Shekhawati. 

When it comes to association with brands, Suneet has a very impressive record. He is Judith Leiber’s only international designer. The ‘who’s who’ in both Hollywood and Bollywood carry his bags. He was one of the designers of the interiors of the BMW 7 series and was the first Indian to do so. His association with BMW exists since 2007, and he has gone on a 15 city tour with them to get inspired for new design ideas. He introduced Armani Junior in India by opening a label at Delhi’s’ DLF Emporio mall. Swarovski invites him to their head office each year to develop the trends and new products for the forthcoming year. Swarovski’s book ‘Unbridaled’ has a section of the weddings he has worked on.

From 2000 to 2005, Suneet was the brand ambassador for Moet & Chandon. Suneet Varma’s ‘Style Guru’ was India’s first fashion and style program which was aired on Star World.

Suneet had a signature collection at Tuscan Verve and displayed his inventions at the Hammer Museum in Beverly Hills. Brands such as Raymond, The Oberoi Group of Hotels, and Airtel have had their advertisements styled by Suneet. 

Suneet has consulted with fashion giants like Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Nicole Miller, and Caroline Heirara. Brands that he has previously worked with include Vogue, Elle, GQ, and Harper’s Bazaar. He revived the handlooms of South India and Banaras to help the Indian Government. 

Suneet broke world records by making the longest embroidered sari for Vogue and earned a place in the Limca Book of Records. This sari measured a whopping 55 meters. 

Suneet is also the creative director for India’s hotel chain Dusit Devarana. He is also working with a Thai architecture company ‘Khun Lek Bunnag’. He is the managing director of Suneet Varma Design Pvt. Ltd., which has a man power of 200 people.
