Shabbir Ahmed is an Indian lyricist who writes songs for the Hindi film industry. He is known for writing lyrics for “ Bol Bachchan” “ Bodyguard”, “OMG- Oh My God!”, “ Kick”, “ Humshakals”, “ Khiladi 786” and many others. Shabbir hails from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his basic education in Jaunpur before he shifted to Mumbai in hopes of becoming an actor but end up as a lyricist instead. He tied the knot with Shumaila Ahmed on 13th May 2014. In 2003, Shabbir made his lyrical debut with pop singer Shweta Shetty’s album “Saajna” in which he wrote all the songs with co-lyricists Yashpal Tanwar, Shashikant Mishra and Shweta Shetty herself. In 2008, he wrote the songs “Khwaaishein”, “Ao Na Aake Phir Jao Na” in Aneek Dhar’s first solo album“Khwaishein” and in 2014, he wrote the song “Kyon” in Armaan Malik’s first album “Armaan”.

In 2015, Shabbir wrote the lyrics of Kanika Kapoor’s music videos “Super Girl from China”, and “Teddy Bear”. In 2004, Shabbir made his Bollywood debut as a lyricist in the film “Garv” starring superstar Salman Khan. Ever since then, Shabbir has worked in several of Salman Khan’s films like “ Wanted”, “ Partner”, “Bodyguard”, “ God Tussi Great Ho”and many others. For this reason, Shabbir attributes his success in Bollywood to Salman Khan and even considers him a godfather-like figure. Shabbir has also worked in films not done by Salman Khan like “ Kismat Konnection”, “ Kaal”, “ Special 26” and many others. Shabbir has worked under several music directors like Himesh Reshammaiya, Sajid-Wajid, A R Rahman, Bappi Lahri and Anu Malik among many others.

Some of his most popular songs include ‘ Tutak Tutak Tutiya’ from “Tutak Tutak Tutiya”, ‘Po Po’ from “Son of Sardar”, and ‘ Govinda’ from “OMG- Oh My God!” ‘Welcome’ from “Welcome” and many more. His latest works include ‘ Mangal Ho’ for “Mangal Ho”, ‘Jolly Good Fellow’ for “Jolly LL B 2” and ‘Aashiq Surrender Hua’ and “Badri Ki Dulhaniya” for Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya, all in 2017. In 2014, Shabbir was nominated for the Awards of the ‘International Indian Film Academy’ under the Best Lyricist category for the song ‘Teri Meri’ from the movie “Bodyguard”. In 2015, he was also nominated for the ‘Bollywood Hungama Surfer’s Choice Music Awards’ under the Best Song category for the song ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ Hai from the movie “Kick” shared with Himesh Reshammaiya, Kumaar, Mika Singh and Palak Muchhal.
