Divyendu Sharma is an upcoming actor in Bollywood. He was born on 13 May 1982 in
New Delhi. He is based in New Delhi. He is an alumina of Pune film institute and even has experience in theater acting. He completed a three-year course in theater acting too. Before he made his debut in the film, he appeared in television commercials and even has endorsed the campaign for Birla group of companies and some mutual fund companies. The actor appeared in a movie named '
Aaja Nachle' where he appeared in a smaller role as MLA's son. It was Madhuri Dixit’s comeback movie.
Since he had a theatrical background, he had an impression that he would not be a part of any commercial movie at all. As an actor, he too had to struggle a lot to break the coconut in the film industry.
He had struggled for three years continuously and had faced many rejections when he had given many auditions that came on his way. However, he appeared in an advertisement for a Virgin mobile, and he got noticed by Bollywood producers. That is how Divyendu landed up getting a role of ‘
Pyaar Ka Punchnama’. Despite his performance got noticed and he even bagged the Screen Award for New Promising Star, he refused to be a part of its sequel 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2'. He felt that he should not get typecast and thus declined the offer made to him by the film producers.
Since he hails from a non-filmy world, it was difficult for him to get settled in the industry. After two films that had a quite successful run at the box office, he claimed that he wanted to act with all Khans in Bollywood. Later, with Prachi Mishra, he also acted in a comedy film named '
Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend' that released in March 2015. In October 2014, he had worked in a film '
Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami' whose trailer was launched by
Shah Rukh Khan. The film had the negative response from critics, and the film had
Neha Dhupia and
Anupam Kher in leading role. His upcoming movies include ‘Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau’ that has
Isha Koppikar as a female lead.
Divyendu also acted in a 2013 Bollywood comedy movie '
Chashme Baddoor' which was directed by
David Dhawan and was a critical and commercial success. The film was a remake of the 1981 film of the same name which had
Deepti Naval and
Farooq Sheikh in the lead role. It was directed by
Sai Paranjpye then in the year 1981. One hopes this talented actor will be acknowledged in the industry like late actor Farooq Sheikh.
