Joy Badlani started his career as a Bengali movie actor. He initiated his career in the year 1992 for the screen play Katto Bhalobasa. In 1993, he recorded the picture and in 1996 he worked for the play Lethi which is an action drama produced by Prabhat Roy this motion picture featured Debashree Roy, Soumitra Chatterjee, Victor Banerjee, and several other artists. Lethi received best talkie award from BFJA in the year 1997. In 1998, he acted in Jamai no 1. In 2001, he also portrayed in the Malabadal.

In 2003, he acted in Bombayer Bombete, this is a thriller which was made by Sandeep Rai. It is a story written by Satyajit Ray.It is based on a fictional character Feluda, a detective. This Feluda made a box office hit with little more criticism from the others who received a part of praise as per the audience. In 2003, again worked for the Andha Prem and in 2004 he worked for the play Kalo Chitha. He also made Bhalobasar Dibyi in the year 2007.

In 2011, he preferred Fighter which is an action film of Bengal made by Ravi Kinagi with Srabanti Chatterjee and Jeet. The Movie was a superhit at the box office. The movie is also released in Telugu as a remake. The story is about a Flashback of a sincere police officer and his happily married life and how it turns in to a problem due to his sincereness.
