Rajesh Vivek is an Indian actor. He was born on 31st January 1949 in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. His parents are Raj Bahadur Upadhyay and Prem Kumari Upadhyay. He took Masters’ Degree in Ancient History and Archaeology from T D Degree College, Jaunpur. Rajesh started his career doing theater dramas as an actor.
Shyam Benegal gave him a chance in his film Junoon, released in 1978, which became his debut film. Further, he acted in more than 40 Hindi films.
He is very much recognized for his role in ‘Lagaan –Once upon a time in India’ as Guran, ‘
Swades’ as Postman, and ‘
Jodha Akbar’ as Chughtai Khan. Interestingly all these three films are by the filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar. He was nominated for his role in Lagaan for Performance in Comic Role (Popular Award) by International Indian Film Academy. Rajesh has also acted in some TV serials. Rajesh is known for his role of Veda Vyasa in the popular series ‘Mahabharat.' He has also acted in another historic TV series ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’.
