Vivek Anand Oberoi's birth was on 3rd September 1976 (age-39) in Hyderabad, Telangana to father
Suresh Oberoi and mother Yashodhara Oberoi. He also has a nickname named '
Rockstar'. Vivek did his schooling from Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad and Mayo College, Ajmer. After school, he studied at Mithibai College,Juhu. He often used to take a public bus to his college. He has a Master's Degree from New York University for Film acting, USA. Before coming to the acting career, he worked as a scriptwriter and bought his first car with the money he made from that, but his first car was a Jeep gifted to him by his father.He made his debut with Ram Gopal Verma's Company in 2002 and backed two Filmfare awards for Best Debut Male and Best Supporting Actor. Though Ram Gopal Verma considered him too cute to play a gangster's role and was in second thoughts Vivek went to the slums of Mumbai and did his homework and after a couple of weeks he barged into Verma's office dressed as Chandu the Gangster, swung his feet up on the table and landed the contract which turned out to be a remarkable debut.
After that, he did many more hit films and received many more awards. He dated his co-star Aishwarya Rai but broke up soon. He had a press conference stating that
Salman Khan threatened him on the phone which later on turned into a significant controversy. He then married to
Priyanka Alva, daughter of Karnataka Minister Jeevaraj Alwa. Now the couple is blessed with two children, a son Vivaan Oberoi and a girl, Ameyaa Oberoi. Vivek is very much concerned about his physique and spends a lot of time in the gym. Vivek also likes to walk around Juhu Beach and sometimes even after his packups to release stress he walks on the beach. Vivek prevents himself from smoking and drinking and doesn't drink tea or coffee also.
Though he used to smoke, he left it long time back. Vivek was also awarded a Red and White Braver Award for helping to re-build a village which was struck by Tsunami and was immediately adopted. Vivek along with his family members founded Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation to help the needy. Oberoi serves as WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION, anti-tobacco spokesperson. He is involved with several charities in Chennai and Mumbai. His work with Project Hope to bring relief to victims of the Tsunami earned him a Good Samaritan Awards.
