Kalpana Kartik was born into a Punjabi-Christian family as Mona Singha on September 19, 1931, in Shimla. Studying at the prestigious St. Bede’s College, Shimla, Kalpana Kartik won the Miss Shimla beauty pageant in her graduation year. He convinced her parents to work with him in his film company named Navketan Films, as the lead actress. Thus, Mona Singha became Kalpana Kartik and began her journey in the film industry.
