Kranti Redkar is one of the Marathi film actresses who is known for her acting prowess in stage, theater, Television and even films. She was known for Prakash Jha’s Bollywood flick Gangajal where she played the role of a kidnapped girl “” based on whom the film had got translated. Kranti is known for movies like Gangajal and as much as she is known for “Chikani Chameli” song in Agneepath( 2012). She is also identified as glamorous ‘Kombadi Palali…’ girl for the Marathi film “”( 2006). In 2015, she took direction with great and natural zeal. Her first debut as a director was for a Marathi film titled “Kaakan” ( which means bangles). In this film, she had done the work of writing, screenplay, dialogues, lyrics and even handled choreography in the film “Kaakan”. In this film she did not take up the lead role of actress, but she gave the actress role to Urmila Kanetkar Kothare. This film is a love story set on the backdrop of beautiful place called Konkan. She grew up in this region from the childhood and therefore gave a good narration to the film, which presented the sequences in the film well. She will soon be busy with her next project, in which Kranti Redikar will be seen both as an actor and director. Initially, the film “Kaakan” was taken up as a short film, but later when she felt that the film had potential to be made into a full length feature film, she decided to make Kaakan as a total film experience. Kranti is playing psychiatrist role in Kachra, a role of a terrorist in “Bombay Times’’ and a role of surrogate mother in “Karaar”. Her first directional debut Kaakan is considered to be an inspiration taken from K. Balachander’s film Ek Duje Ke Liya.
