Lara Dutta is an Indian actress, model, movie producer and a former beauty pageant, winning Miss Intercontinental in 1997 and the Miss Universe title in 2000. Noted DJ and music composer, Nitin Sawhneyi, is one of her cousins. She was born in Ghaziabad, UP, India, on 16 April 1978. Her father is Punjabi, L K Dutta, a retired Indian Air Force Wing Commander, and her mother is an Anglo Indian, Mrs. Jennifer Dutta, who is Half Scottish. Lara’s elder sister Sabrina is with the Indian Air Force. She has another elder sister by the name Cheryl.

Lara’s high school education was at St. Francis Xavier Girls High School, Frazer Town, Bangalore. At Frank Anthony Public School, in the same Bangalore City, she did her two years of Junior college. Then she moved to Mumbai where she has studied at the University of Mumbai. Her major was economics and minor was communication, and she became an economy graduate from the same university.
