She inherited the talents and skills of singing and acting. Her uncle was Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. Tanguturi Suryakumari sang the official song of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The official song is Maa Telugu Thalliki. Her career as an actress started from a very young age. She was a very famous kid artist in the age of 12. Her singing career got support in the film Vipranarayana released in the year 1937. A section of the movie was written specifically to assist her singing skills. She was awarded the Best Actress awards for the Outer Critics Circle Award for her role as Queen Sudarshana, in an Off-Broadway play The King of the Dark Chamber in 1961. Rabindranath Tagore, India’s most famous and eminent writer of that time wrote this Off-Broadway play. Her second movie was Adrushtam in the year 1938. This film turned out to be a hit movie of that time. She has not only worked in the Telugu film industry but has roared her talents in the Tamil and Hindi film world also.
