Hindi Musician Chayan Adhikari

Chayan Adhikari is a renowned music professional and educator. He did his primary schooling in Springdales School till 2005. After that, he completed his graduation in B.A History Hons. From Sri Venkateshwara College, University of Delhi from 2006-2009. He was President of Crescendo – Western Music Society in his College. He has been the Project Head at The YP Foundation. His works include as Vocal Instructor at Bridge Music Academy, Music Director in The Yellow Brick Project where he composed and arranged music for The Yellow Brick Project’s 4th Musical – ‘Dirty Laundry’.

He had been Music Director at Humour Me Pvt Ltd. where he composed and produced music for the musical – ‘7 Days to Wonderland’ – A ‘Humour Me’ production. He also worked as Voice and Music Faculty at One World, College of Music, and Choir Faculty at Global Music Institute (GMI). He was also a Visiting Faculty at Ashoka University, where he taught a songwriting course titled ‘From Sound to Song to Music’ at Ashoka University as part of Ashoka’s co-curricular courses and Education & Communities Program Head at Music Basti, a community-based music and media learning project, managed by Integrated Development Education Association (IDEA), a registered Association set up in 1991.

After that, he worked as vocalist, composer, and songwriter for Artistes Unlimited (a platform for the promotion of performing arts, with Music as its core focus, founded in New Delhi, India in 2003), time machine and Chayan and Smiti (an indie-acoustic duo) respectively. He was also a Music Faculty at Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication. Later, he worked for some time as Program Lead in Enabling Leadership Global and then as Project lead. For the previous fifteen years, Chayan has been a member of Advaita.

The group has released two highly regarded studio albums, “Grounded in Space” (2009) and “Silent Sea” (2012), for which they have received many awards, including the Jack Daniel’s Award for Best Album and the Global Indian Music Award for Best Rock Album. One of the six Indian performers selected to participate in the 2010 “JAZZAAR” event in Aarau, Switzerland, was Chayan. Among the world’s best musicians, including Fritz Renold, Reggie Hamilton, Lew Solof, Manrico Padovani, Airto Moreira, Willy Kotoun, Buster Williams, and Danny Gottlieb, he performed at this festival. Chayan was selected to participate in the Scottish Opera’s opera “Anamchara-Songs of Friendship,” presented in Glasgow, 2014, as part of the Commonwealth Games.
