Pandharinath

Pandharinath was a classical musician. He was born on the 16^th of February 1930, in Pandharpur, Maharashtra. His full name was Pandit Pandharinath Kolhapure. He was born and brought up in the town of Pandharpur in Maharashtra. As a young kid, he started learning music under the guidance of Pandit Krishanrao Kolhapure, a Veena player and vocalist. Krishanrao was the partner in the Balwant Natak Academy with Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar. He also got trained famous Khansaheb Ata Husein and Pandit Madhusudan Joshi from the Agra Gharana. He gave his first performance at the tender age of 15 years. He also performed at Baroda’s All India Music Conference in1941. There a famous artist at the darbar – Khansaheb Faiyaz Khansaab blessed him. He gained knowledge of music from Prof. B.R. Deodharji and Pandit Kumar Gandharva. He was not just a versatile singer, but also a beautiful author and has written three books. The first one was titled “Gan Yogi Shiv Putra," which was dedicated to the entire life of his guru Pandit Kumar Gandharva. “Shubh Suranche Bol Rudra Veeneche” was the title of his second book. It was based on the experience of his own life. The last book was an inspiration by the renowned creator of Khyal Gayki Niyamat Khan and dedicated to him. Pandit Ji founded the trust Veena Vardayani in 2000. Through which he spread the knowledge of music to many students. He was also a member of the Samvad Foundation and the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
