 Anitha Shaiq was commonly known as Anitha. She is a famous Indian playback singer. She has also created a place for herself in Sufi singing and is also into music composing. She hails from Kamaleswaram, Thiruvananthapuram and is settled in Mumbai. 

Her parents are Sirajuniza Begum, a music teacher at Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Vattiyoorkavu and Sheikh Ebrahim. She is an inevitable presence for most of the stage shows today. She performs Indian classical, Sufi, Ghazal, folk, pop and film songs on stage.

As a school student, she was an all-around performer and won a number of awards for dance, theatre, and singing. She was a Kalathilakam, at the district level while she was studying at Government Higher Secondary School, Kamaleswaram.

She has also won accolades for her performances in Mono act, Margamkali, Mappilapattu, skit, mime and Thiruvathirakali at both districts and State-levels. She did her Major in music from the Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram.

She is trained in Hindustani, Sufi, Carnatic and western music. She has also learned music under the likes of Omanakutty, the late M.G. Radhakrishnan, KumarakeralaVarma, Seethalakshmi and Perumbavoor Ravindranath.

 She had participated in music competitions and youth festivals from her younger days, and it helped in increasing her knowledge of music. She also used to sing jingles for advertisements on radio and Doordarshan, which helped her in understanding more about the process of recording. This proved to be very useful when she started her playback singing career, in 2007.

She kick-started her playback singing career with 'o mama', in Malayalam film Rock n Roll, under Vidyasagar’s composition. It became the super hit song of 2007. She has recorded more than 100 songs for films in her 11 years of singing career.

She became Mollywood’s latest singing sensation of the time with consecutive hits like Thumbi Thumbi (Parunthu-2008), Ekandachandrike, Adavukal (2 Harihar Nagar-2009), Kozhychingara (Bodyguard - 2009), Ola Ola(In ghost house in -2011) and Nath nath (Badrinath-2011).

She debuted in Tamil with Laddu laddu in the film Aarvam, under the music of Rony Raphell in 2011. She has sung in different languages like Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, English African, Arabic, Urdu, etc.
