Anita Kaul Basu

Anita Kaul Basu is a popular producer who was born in Kashmir and brought up in England. She has two brothers. Anup, her elder brother, lives in Canada and her younger brother Arvind is a doctor serving in London. To pursue her degree, she returned to India in 1975. In 1978, she completed the Mass Communication course at the Indian Institute of Mass Communications. After completing the course, she did an internship at Doordarshan. She chose to be in the media and with HY Sharda Prasad’s guidance, she started her career in the print media. She joined The Fortnight and then joined India Today in 1980.

In 1983, Anita married Siddhartha. Aditya Basu and Medha Basu are their children. Anita took a leave from her career after her first child was born. While she was caring for her child, her husband got an opportunity to do the show Quiz Time. Anita designed his dresses for the show and it reached well. She had also designed some for Maneka Gandhi for Maneka's Ark and many game shows and talk shows for Divya Seth.

In 1986, Anita came back to her work and started producing the shows. In 1989, Anita and Siddhartha started their TV production company, Synergy. She had been the project coordinator and executive producer for various shows. While doing the Mastermind on BBC, Anita gained huge attention and experience. She was perfect with each and everything on the show, from the lights to the host. Making KBC was a great task, stated Anita. Initially, convincing Amitabh to do the show was a huge task, said Anita in her interview. Synergy, the banner of Siddhartha and Anita, had been conducting live quizzes too. They had worked in this regard with Tata Steel, Limca Book of Records, Birla, Taj Group of Hotels, Nestle, Ranbaxy, Delhi Police, HRD Networks, Maruti, Ranbaxy, Kerala Tourism, Microsoft, IIT and many more.
