Anubhav Anand, credited with acting, editing, writing and producing 3 to 4 films, released in Bollywood a few years back, would not add up to very interesting reading. But while his career up to now is short on numbers and cannot claim to have too many banner headlines, it has plenty of novelty in the manner he broke into the film world and the way his breakthrough first movie “Perfect Mismatch” was made – and this provides for interesting reading. Although acting had always been a burning passion for him, he came into the profession in a rather roundabout manner.

Detecting his flair for histrionics, his parents did not come in his way, but only advised him to pursue his studies and take up a regular career side by side with his passion for acting. He thus ended doing his software engineering in the USA, and even joined up with the global IT multinational IBM. While in the US itself he started scouting for producers to launch his movie, subsequently entitled “Perfect Mismatch” and followed up the same by forming his own production company. The movie was released both in the US as well as in India in 2009, and while it did not do well at the box office, it certainly received some rave reviews at the Cinequest Film Festival, acknowledged being one out of the top ten International Film festivals. While Anubhav was justifiably satisfied with the response the film received in the Film Festival, he realized that he would have to pick up much more about the commercial trappings of movie making, to effectively utilize his passion for movie making and acting. He did go onto deliver his second film – mystery thriller, “Kabhi Kahin…”, and followed up on the production team of another one “Aseema: Beyond Boundaries”. Anubhav is now at the crossroads and needs to take a decision on what role would suit him best in the domain of movies, and also select the genre of films he would be most comfortable with.
