Shailesh R. Singh

Shailesh R Singh is an independent Indian filmmaker and producer. He initially worked as an apprentice and pursued his dream to become a producer. Coming from a small town in Jaunpur, he was asked to focus on studies mainly, but Shailesh wasn't interested in studies and was passionate about cricket and movies. In an interview, he said that he would travel 12 to 15 kilometres just to watch a film. Shailesh’s story on how he pursued his passion sounds like a story out of a movie. He distanced himself from the comfort of his home at the age of 15 with nothing but a sports magazine and 400 rupees in hand. He reached Mumbai and decided to train rigorously in cricket. He later understood that cricket was not helping him, and was only providing him a decent pay. He returned home and went back to Mumbai after a few years to apprentice with Mansoor Khan on ‘Akele Hum Akele Tum.’

He left no stone unturned and even worked in television by writing episodes for shows like ‘Choodiyan,’ ‘Rishtey.' Even though he was doing what he loved, he was still not happy with the remuneration he was getting.
