Manoj Yadav is one of the most talented lyricists who works in the Bollywood industry. He has also been credited as a screenplay writer for one movie. Manoj’s father and most of his family were originally from UP, but because of work they had to move to Mumbai. So in his early days most of the time Manoj spent was going up and down between UP and Mumbai. Since his childhood, Manoj always had many interests. He was an above-average student, he had great friendships and was also interested in playing sports, he initially never had a clear sight of what he wanted to do.

However, Manoj used to idolize Gulzar, the legendary lyricist. Once in a class, he had a scuffle with his history teacher, where Manoj shouted at his teacher that he is not interested in history, but he is in poetry. Those were perhaps the building blocks towards his career in lyricism. His love of movies came when he saw the Amitabh Bacchan starrer Don for the first time. He was absolutely hooked, and because he had no TV at his own home, he would have to go and watch it in his neighbour’s house. Since his fascination with movies began, Manoj also started to say small poems in his normal conversations.

This habit soon was getting noticed by all his friends, and Manoj would often write a poem for any of his friends on their birthdays. His career had a rocky start, initially after his father’s demise, Manoj had to financially support his home, and would work as a painter, or a medical representative. His journey as a lyricist started with Son of Sardaar in 2012, and since then he worked as a lyricist for over 15 other projects. The highlight of his career came in 2011, when he wrote the super-hit anthem of the 2011 Cricket World Cup ‘De Ghuma Ke’, which was special for another reason as India won the world cup as well. Right now, Manoj is one of the most popular lyricists in Bollywood.
