He was born and brought up in Poonch, Jammu, in a musical family. Apart from being a great singer, he is also the music composer and songwriter. He began the training of music at an early age while he faced the first time staged at the age of twelve. Sumit learned music from the Saraswati Sangeet Vidyalaya Poonch. He has completed his post-graduation from Mumbai in fine arts.

In childhood, he was too keen on watching reality shows that he missed neither a single episode of them, stated by Sumit. He believes that music is incomplete without creativity, and he always wanted to act on the stage of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.’ His journey to Mumbai initiated when he got the golden opportunity by notable music director, ‘Ismael Darbar’. He invited Sumit to come and sing in a musical program ‘Choona Hai Aasman,’ which was sponsored by J&K’s Police Department.

After his first live performance at the stage in Threesome Cafe in Versova, Mumbai, he has never looked back. His love for Punjabi music tones has let him create a single based on love with Punjabi touch. Currently, he has performed at ‘BKC Dive,’ where he gave the compliments to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Nowadays, he is associated with ‘Happydemic,’ which records cover-up songs for ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ for their YouTube channel. He records cover-ups at least twice a month with the motive of becoming a YouTube sensation. Also, he is recording songs for Bollywood films.
