Manika Batra is an Indian table tennis player based in NCR. Born on 15th June 1995 in New Delhi, she started playing the sport when she was just four years old. Though she took admission in Jesus and Mary College after declining an offer from to train at the Peter Karlsson Academy in Sweden, she dropped out in between to focus more on improving her skills at the sport.
Over the years, she has achieved many notable feats throughout her career, including two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast and 3 golds and a silver at South Asian Games 2016.
As of January 2019, Manika is the highest-ranked table tennis player in the world from India. In 2018, she was honored with the Breakthrough Star Award by ITTF, becoming only the first Indian to have received it. As a teenager, she rejected many offers for modeling due to her passion for the sport. But eventually, she featured on the cover of Femina and in the Vogue Magazine for her achievements as a sportsperson.
