Muktibandhan was a tele-serial made on the novel of Harkishan Mehta' popular novel of the same name. The serial was produced by Shobhana Desai and directed by Vikram Ghai. It was telecast on Colors TV during 2011. Thought the serial was not a very successful one, the performance of Ekta was much appreciated as Rajvi, who depicted the conflict of a dedicated wife for her husband and on the other hand her ex lover having a crush at her still after her marriage and child birth. The dilemma of the woman was presented by Ekta in a very beautiful manner which earned accolades for her from all corners.
After her success in this serial, Ekta was again seen in the next serial of Balaji telefilms of Ekta Kapoor, 'Kya Hua Tera vaada'. The serial was telecasted on Sony TV and was a success. Ekta played the role of a career oriented wife of the younger brother of male protagonist whose wife was portrayed by
Mona Singh. Both the women depicted the characters of two women characters in sharp contrast to each other. Where Mona Singh played the role of a typical Indian house wife, who is happy sacrificing her career for her husband and children, Ekta depicted the role of a career oriented wife who is not ready to sacrifice her career at any cost. She is even ready to sacrifice her family for her career without thinking twice on the issue. The performance of both these women was par excellence and was much appreciated by the audiences as well as critics.
