Naganna

Naganna is a South Indian director, writer, lyricist and actor who works in the Kannada film industry. He was born on 21st March. He is known for Kannada movies like Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna. He is also known as Naganna Nagaraj and B. Naganna. Naganna is the son of the renowned Kannada film producer late R. Lakshman.

He attended high school at the St. Joseph’s High School in Briand Square in Bangalore. He attended college at the R C College of Commerce from where he gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He also gained an LLB degree from SJRC college in Bangalore. He joined the Sri Nidhi Productions in Bangalore in 1991.

He learned filmmaking from the director Hamsalekha. He is the owner of the Nithyachetana Creations. Naganna was an associate director in the Kannada crime drama flick Jimmy Gallu directed by K S L Swamy. The action movie hit the screens on 20th September 1982. The Kannada film hit the big theatres on 2nd August 2002. Naganna is most well-known for his historical biographical movie Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna. He also wrote the film’s screenplay with Keshavadithya. The film was lauded as the biggest film in the history of the Kannada Cinema industry. The Kannada flick hit the silver screens on 1st November 2012. Since then, it ran for about three hundred and sixty five days in the cinema halls.

The feature film earned thirty crore rupees within twenty two days of release which was its cost of production. The film won the Best Film Award at the 60th Filmfare Awards South ceremony, Naganna was nominated for the Best Director award in the same function. The film was nominated and won many other awards and was critically acclaimed by critics and audiences. It was by far Naganna’s most successful film. Naganna was the head of the Karnataka State Film Award Panel 2015. Naganna directed Kannada movies like Lady Police, Hello Daddy, Lady Commissioner, O Premmave, Soorappa, Koti Gobba, Amma Ninna Tholinalli, Gokarna, Kutumba, Chappale, Gowramma, Bandhu Balaga, Vishnu Sena and Dubai Babu.
