Archana Udupa is a singer from Karnataka, who sings various kinds of songs. She is perfect in pitches of various kind of classical songs be it a devotional or even filmy kind. The singer’s voice was recognized when she participant in Zee TV’s singing reality show ‘
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ contest and won the heart of people. Also, as a playback singer, she was associated with many programs that were featured on both All India Radio and even Doordarshan. It is believed that she is a graded artist of AIR and Doordarshan.
Archana Udupa even won the national competition conducted by AIR for the pop music in the year 1997-99. Archana evolved as a finalist in 1998 in Zee TV contest Saregama. She is the only singer from South India to win the Hindi playback singing contest. The singer also has performed many stage shows with veteran singers like A. Hariharan,
Shankar Mahadevan, and even S.P. Balasubramanyam. Not many know that she has shared the stage with singer
Manna Dey even, She also has her private music albums with legendary singers Madhu Rani, Mehdi Hasan, Gulam Ali, Roona Laila, and
Sonu Nigam. Archana has sung even for Punjabi film under the musical composer guidance of
Jagjit Singh. With Jagjit Singh, she enthralled the audience in front of Taj Mahal at the TVS Sa Re Ga Ma Millennium Celebration. Also, she was selected to sing ‘Close UP Anthakshari’ Millenium song which was composed by none other than Anil Biswas.
Zee Music when launched the 'Sapney' album, Archana was requested to lend her vocal track for this musical album which was composed by Shankar Mahadevan. She has recorded film songs for well-known music composers of Kannada films such as Hamsalekha, C.Ashwath,
Vijay Anand, L.N. Shastry or even late
Upendra Kumar, etc. Archana Udupa was trained well in light classical music by her dad Sri. Srinivasa Udupa. Next, she learned Carnatic music from Sri Balakrishna and even accepted the singing pattern of Hindustani music under the guidance of Dr. Shakuntala Narasimhan. She won the Karnataka state award for her song in film 'Bhageerathi' that released in 2012.
