Raveendran was born in Kollam, Kerala on 9 November 1941 as Kulathupuzha Ravi. He is associated with the Malayalam and Tamil Music industry. He began his career in music as a singer. He worked as a playback singer and then as a music composer. His first song was ‘Parvanarajanithan’ in the Malayalam movie ‘Velliyazhcha’ in 1969. He married Shobha and has three sons.

Ravi met a sad demise at the age of 63 after suffering from cancer. M. Raveendran is a famous singer and music composer of South Indian film industry. He has contributed greatly to the Carnatic music, Hindustani Classical, and world music. Some of his famous albums which were hummed all over were ‘Vasantha Geethangal’, ‘Raja Shilpi’ and ‘Uthradapoonilave’. ‘Ponnona Tharingini’, ‘Uthradapoonilave,’ ‘Amme Saranam Devi Saranam’ and ‘Sarana Theertham’ were the popular non-cinematic albums of the 1990s.

He has given us some non-stop hits of the time. His great contribution makes it evident that he had made a dominant mark in the industry. He was known as the musical maestro in his field of work. He will be remembered forever for his unparalleled compositions in music.
