He started working on an idea in 1990. It came out as the movie ‘Dhruvam’ in 1993. A. K. Sajan worked as the story writer, dialogue writer and gave the screenplay for this movie. This movie was a blockbuster, one of the highest grossing movies and was acclaimed one of the best movies of 1993. Mammootty played the lead role in the film.

In the same year, he wrote the romantic comedy ‘Butterflies’. It was directed by Rajiv Anchal and starred Mohan Lal, Jagadish and Aishwarya in the lead roles. This movie also turned out to be a reasonable hit. In 1994, his next project ‘Kashmeeram’ got major accolades.
